To: Nuaimi, Re: Brehm Youth Sports Park…….

Yucca Valley, Ca.- In a recent story posted by Yucca Valley Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi, he presented “his version of his truth, as he sees it.”

All along, withholding information so the readers will not have a chance to read the full details about the proposed Brehm Youth Sports Park.

A park that was proposed as a “turn-key” facility as a generous donation by Mr. Brehm, of Brehm Publishing, has taken a different path under the direction of Nuaimi, apparently with the blessing of Cindy Melland, Founder of the Basin Wide Foundation, Publisher of the local newspaper, The Hi-Desert Star and daughter of Mr. Brehm.

I have taken my response to his story and posted it here for your review:

Tsk! Tsk! Mark Nuaimi- Twisting my story and selecting some cheesy artwork declaring the truth is out? We all used cheesy artwork in the beginning-Did our art department help you out on this one as a favor?

Yep, it may be your truth that you are trying to float-as is your style.

Yep, you are definitely author material for this blog….welcome aboard! Thanks for using your real name instead of ghost writing for some low intellect pretender….

Yep, be sure to list this new high paying career on your resume, ya hear?

Yep, you twisted my statement in the Tri-Valley Little League story. I was encouraged to call you a liar but the real truth is evident, so it is not necessary. You are a “Twister” to distort and a “With-holder” of facts which are some of your tools that you have learned to use at a very early age. This way you won’t be in any trouble with the Lord and any forensic audits.

Here is the link to my story: http://www.vote29.com/newmyblog/archives/28164 Question # 2 where I ask:

“Why would the Yucca Valley Town Council sign Grant documents committing approximately $350,000 per year to operate the Brehm Youth Sports Park, in addition to paying $40,000 per year to lease the site-which Basin Wide claims will be used to sponsor scholarships. Also, the Town of Yucca Valley has a “partnership agreement” with the Boys and Girls Club in the amount of $50,000.00 per year, for “renting” their facilities.”

Yep, I never said there were signed grant documents WITH Basin Wide Foundation-as evidenced with the actual quote from the story. I was there at that June 29th meeting remember?

Yep,the 4pm meeting where you lost your cool because of my requests for public information? Didn’t someone suggest an anger management class for you? Of course, we all thought she might be kidding with you!

In fact, my last request for public information indicated you submitted a blank UNSIGNED lease agreement with the application for grant funding that NEITHER parties agreed to.

In fact, you slammed the Town Council members, Mayor Huntington, Dawn Rowe, Isaac Hagerman and newly appointed Merl Abel against YOUR urgent “Time Wall” insisting there only remained 48 hours before the deadline to submit for Prop.84 funding and needed to sign on NOW, yep, that’s your style.

In fact, this agenda item was listed on a Regular Tuesday Meeting of the Town Council and you had it pulled without discussion in an open meeting.

In fact, at this very same “Special Meeting” that you called on a Wednesday at 4pm, without the benefit of the general public attending or any recording on DVD, you proposed to sign “side agreements” to this unacceptable lease, if necessary, before one very honest Council member said no, that would not be right thing to do.

In fact, the maintenance costs were cited at $350,000 per year before you were hired as Town Manager and you have since low-balled the costs. As if $180,000 is in the town’s budget, not.

In fact, the discussion was possibly putting the Museum on the chopping block with their budget in that range, at the time, to pay for the Brehm Youth Park. Pretty bad public relations for Mr. Brehm if that happens.

While you take pleasure in dealing in the gray areas, I feel this is a reflection on the reputation of Mr. Brehm who offered to deliver this park as a “turn-key” park. A designed and built facility to the town in exchange for a promise to maintain the park.

Submitting a blank and unsigned lease document, that neither party agrees to, in conjunction with the application for millions of dollars of grant funds is dealing in the gray area, in my opinion. Does Mr.Brehm know about this?

When you submitted the application for grant funds, did you indicate the lease was NOT agreed upon by both parties?

If I was on the Prop 84 committee evaluating this application, it would be a normal thing to think this was the actual lease agreement, although blank and unsigned, for consideration.

Misrepresentation or fraud?

Mr. Brehm have you been taken “out of the loop on this matter?

Mr. Brehm, does the means justify the end?

Simply spamming this blog with the same misinformation time and time again doesn’t change the facts. Brehm Park (north of Little League Drive) costs an estimated $180,000 to maintain.

The Town and Basin Wide Foundation have agreed to the structure of the long-term lease of that facility. THAT lease will only occur if we secure the $5 million from the state Prop 84 grant program. As was mentioned at the June 29th council meeting, there will likely need to be separate agreements in the event that we DON’T receive the Prop 84 funds (the state requires a 30 year lease in order to demonstrate site control).

As part of the Prop 84 application, the Town included a “Letter of Commitment” (dated June 28th). This can be found at page 7:

    http://www.yucca-valley.org/pdf/mam/Town_Council/Agendas/2011/2011_06_29_towncouncil_agenda.pdf

The Town has already hosted one site visit with the state Prop 84 evaluation staff. A second site visit is occuring in the coming week… indicative of the competitiveness of our application.

Go figure….. Margo we just got through conversing about how you thought I should bump Mark’s comments up as posts. You said that they had a lot of valuable information. I agreed. So the next Nuaimi comment that came up I bumped it up.

Now I believe that Nuaimi Believes every thing he writes is truth. Truth as he sees it. The artwork stays. I will publish his post in the very best light as I can, just as I do for Barbara Boxer or Feinstein or you.

I try to carefully balance all this belly aching and bullshit and it seems at best I piss everyone off. I think that is the sign of balanced reporting.

I reserve the right of editorial control. Bottom line is this: Everyone has the opportunity to use this site as a soap box. I’ve NEVER denied access to those wanting to write. I always allow the opposing view to have equal time. Only on the most rare situations do I censor a user (gratuitous sex, death pics, and hate filled rants of sexism, racism and unwarranted personal attacks on unrelated family members will get you kicked off and a few others I am unable to think of at present,) usually to get kicked off you have to make Attila the Hun blush.

I enjoy the back and forth and am proud of the fact that the site is used as a sounding board by the citizens and officials of the Morongo Basin. I believe that everyone who posts here believes what they write is their truth. I do not have to agree with a single poster or comment and in fact it it is better that way.

Bottom Line, I pay the bills. I retain the right to publish this blog as I see fit.

    Have a nice day

Dan, thank you for solving the mystery of the “Who Posted the Pic?” While you and I have had our disagreements, I do believe your intent is not simply to assassinate the character or integrity of those who you write about. And believe me I don’t have any delusions to believe that everyone trusts that what I write is the truth. What I do hope, however, is that folks who follow your blog will realize that time and time again I have attempted to present factual information (or at least the best guess that I had at the time).

I’m surely not perfect and I certainly have been known to err (ask my wife for further details). But I will NOT allow someone on this blog to attack my integrity or the integrity of the Town staff. At the end of the day (or the beginning of the morning), all any of us have is our reputations and our good name. Anyone who knows me — truly knows me — understands how much I value both and how diligently I will fight to protect both.

And while I have been called a carpetbagger, “Twister”, “Distorter”, and a variety of other “pleasantries” on this blog over the year plus that I have been here, I am first and foremost a husband & father who commutes 85 miles one way to work for an organization and community that I have grown to love and admire.
