The Sins of the Son are Not Visited Upon the Father.

Yucca Valley, Ca.-Yes! Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel is the place where I worship. So sue me!

Many, many years before we arrived in Yucca Valley, my husband attended Calvary in Orange County with Pastor Chuck delivering the sermons.  Notice I have NOT said anything about being members because there are no memberships at JSCC, no membership roster, period.  My membership is the union with the Lord in my heart, no matter where I attend Church, Bible Study and when singing songs of worship. There is a lot of singing at this church!

I was recently criticized in a comment on this blog by Yucca Valley Planning Commissioner Chair, Tim Humpreville that I should beg forgiveness from the “Sky Harbor Five,” referencing the five Yucca Valley Town Council members, when I see them on Sunday. He wrote, “the thought of the sky harbor five all going to Joshua Springs came to mind and I would bet if you asked them for forgiveness, they would support that all the way. As you belong to that church also, it will be easy for you tomorrow.’

Why should it concern him, or anyone else, where I choose to worship?

I have also worshiped at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Valley Community Chapel, United Methodist, and Evangelical Free Church.  I have many friends that attend these churches.

I feel one does not need to attend any church on any Sunday to worship the Lord.  Often I see His face in the morning sunrise, in awe of a rainbow, counting the brilliant stars at night, holding a baby and many times in my dreams.

Jerel Hagerman, the pastor of Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley, has the ability to make the Bible come alive in his coverage of chapter by chapter….verse by verse.  He is aware of the current events unfolding in our world and makes it easy to understand how the Word relates in today’s events. His photographic memory of details are blended with his funny folksy farm stories.  Does everyone agree with him about every sermon? Most do and perhaps some do not agree, but he gets them thinking about the issues.

That is the only thing I can speak to is my own personal experience with this Church.  They put me on the prayer list for my recovery of my recent illness, I was a volunteer  Christian radio DJ to broadcast the sermon on Wednesday evenings but now I am no longer able to climb the  steep stairs to reach the radio studio.  When there is a Celebration of Life, the Food Ministry will ask me to bring food and I often stay to arrange the platters, serve food and clean up.

While this a very large church, they have developed personalized smaller groups that meet in other settings with common interests which could be horseback riding, camping, 4-Wheelers for Christ, motorcycle groups, etc. Also, there is a couples Bible Study that meet twice a month and often plan trips to the movies or the Palms Springs Street Fair.

There are JSCC attendees that have broken off from this church to spread the gospel in other venues, other cities.

I don’t know why there are so many Yucca Valley Town Staff, Councilmen, and appointees that attend this same church.  I find it highly unusual and probably is not healthy in light of the Brown Act if they are discussing issues at social gatherings. Remember, it is a big church in our small community.

For the record, Mayor George Huntington worships at another church and Councilman Isaac Hagerman has never been in attendance at his father’s church during the past six+ years that I have been going to JSCC.  So while this “Sky Harbor Five” all live in the same neighborhood-there are only three that worship at JSCC since Mayor Pro-tem resigned from the Council.

There are four Parks & Rec Commissioners that worship at JSCC, and I believe two Planning Commissioners and four high level/sub level YV Town Staff members that worship there as well. What is the problem, if any?

Readers, please let me hear from you on this issue and if you choose to attack me personally…..I will turn the other cheek! Take your best shot!

This story will be posted on my FaceBook page which is sent out to several members of Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel.

    Margo,
You have brought my wife, parents and in laws into the attacks on me. Stating “my Mom and Dad must be proud” crossed the line. As you know my Mother passed away four years ago and to bring my deceased Mother into your attacks is unacceptable. Anyone who knew my mother knew for a fact she was very proud of all of her children and loved them unconditionally. To bad she is dead and can not defend herself or her family against pukes like you. My wife is a big girl and take care of her self, your attacks on her and my in laws do not phase me. Someone like you can not touch us, and your senior citizen victim card does not hold any merit with myself or my wife. My wife and I run a very successful business and where she is weak I am strong and where I am weak she is strong. We have many residents, staff and family members who would gladly defend our character but that is not necessary. I have decided that you are not worth my time or energy. You are the lowest form of life to me and do not deserve my time. I have 250 employees and 242 residents and their loved ones that need my attention on a daily basis. Your lies and evil lifestyle will catch up with you very soon, just like they did in Big Bear. By the grace of God I will ignore the comments about my mother. For the rest of your attacks I will read and laugh. Just know when you see me I know you are the scum of the earth and the lowest form of life possible. You are a cancer and a drain on this community, and I hope you take your gypsy lifestyle and move on down the road soon. You can post this to every person that belongs to my Dad’s church it wont phase me a damn bit. Like I said you can’t touch me in any way.

1 blog two right wing self proclaimed republicans from yucca what do you get? I won’t go there but it has nothing to do with wisdom or maturity. Both need to be put in a corner for a time out.
Can’t you two find a common cause, there are many ills in yucca, it may lead to civility.

@MarkClemons- Yes, there are many ills in Yucca Valley and it would be appreciated if the self-appointed “Nuaimi Dynamic Duo” (Hagerman & Humphreville) would address the issues instead of the personal attacks and lies. Unfortunately, these two immature young boys are in positions to vote on serious matters including the recent YV Development Impact Fees and/or Hwy62/Hwy247 safety changes, yet, are unable to contribute to the blog any insight for valuable information to discuss the issues presented in my post.

Who gives them the authority to dig around the DMV files trying to look for my driver’s license information and posting my maiden name and other confidential information on this blog? While DanO may encourage this “banter” from Hagerman because he finds it refreshing- as per his comment on this blog, I feel it is a violation of a citizen’s privacy.

Before Cactus Thorns expanded to the west of the basin, Yucca Valley has never had any light shed on the cronyism and back room deals that take place with town officials. Having control of print media and community radio, there was no one to write about these questionable actions and no transparency. The response to Yucca Valley posts are to attack the messenger in an attempt to deflect the exposure. There is a saying….”Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”

Thank you for your comment Mark, but I do not think these two will ever join me in this common cause: “It is time for government transparency holding all elected officials accountable for their actions in our country, the state and locally in our communities.”

I must agree when push gets to shove…. Steve, You, I and most everyone else in 29 can get together for the important issues of the day that effect us all.

While we might not agree on all issues and in fact not even like one another most of the time we have come to a certain comity on those everyday issues concerning health and safety.

God forbid I have even shamelessly agreed with (spit spit, hack hack) Corbin on a few civic issues.

I’m going to throw this suggesttion out on the table one more time.

A simple rule of thumb. Agree to not bring in family and your employment into your fight. Long after everyone has forgotten what you might have said here, your friends, family and employers will consider being brought into the fray as a sign of disloyalty to the family, friendships and the company.

The Republican Eleventh Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican,” is something we should all think about when it gets personal…. As if I am one to talk… BUT… It is possible to argue without dragging in an innocent family member for a Youtube Beheading.

@Isaac- May God Bless you and help you to overcome your compulsive lying. Nothing said about the in-laws or family- that is not the truth. Nope, nothing in BIg Bear either…. You must answer to God for your actions and He knows the Truth. I am comforted by that knowledge and will keep you in my prayers that you will be forgiven for this misguided anger that you hold in your heart.
