30 days and counting: Pit Bull Attack Victim still in Hospital

I’m starting to get upset here.  My name is James Sharp I’m the husband of Juanita Sharp the victim of the recent pit bull attack in Yucca Valley. Everybody is arguing over this other guy. Why?   His case closed.  Have any of you stopped to even think how Juanita is?

I can tell you right know there are over 100 dog bites on Juanita from the bottom of her feet to her shoulders and when I say bites I mean chunks have been torn out.  She has gone through 5 surgeries and god only knows how many more.  Her right arm is closed up, stitches out, but under her arm between the elbow and under arm there is a massive tooth mark.  2 of them you can see up into this a ways its just a hole and it is know deformed from the stitches.  Her right forearm, the bites are closed but here you also see the massive bite although closed.  Its a huge scare.  She has scares every where on her buttocks left side.  She has a bite that goes 6 inches across and went 3 inches deep on her right side of her back kidney area. There is another 1 6 inches across that went 3 inches deep under her breast. She was just tore up teeth marks skin torn, deep gashes her legs same thing these dogs not only got her arms they got her everywhere its her left arm now.

I read the 114 page doctors report and spoke with the doctor the night she was attacked. After her surgery her left arm was left open. These dogs when they bite took everything all the way around the arm 3 to 4 inches wide to the bone the doctor said he could not close them there too big she is still in the hospital here it is almost 30 days after.

Juanita is still in the hospital and her doctor said she wont be going home anytime soon they have to just let the left arm heal from the inside out she has a pump that is inserted in this massive wound.  She has to have it or they are afraid gangrene will set in.

As far as use of the left hand well she can move her fingers barley but she cant move the wrist.  She has no feeling in it, just tingling. She starting to pick thing up with the right hand but she is still very sore. If you seen the scares she had it would make you cry

She should not be here, even the doctor said he cant explain it. The amount of blood that she lost, she is very lucky. It’s not only her arms, it is her entire body.  Juanita shoulders were torn open and required stitches.

I can tell you this, I lived on the corner of Barron and Balboa last year green and pink apartments, you all know those apartments. There are these dogs that have been out before, it was nothing to get up in the morning and see them running the streets. The lady there did not care that gate would be open and those dogs would be  running loose.

I had a chance to talk with Juanita about the owner of the dogs. Lets just say I’m pissed off.  She skipped town that night of the attack. She left everything she owned and  ran.

Juanita told me,  she was walking to Cookie’s,  its a friend of ours, a good friend,  for coffee when she got close to where this house was.  She noticed the gate opened so she crossed the street. It was too late.  They charged across the street. The dogs were on her before she knew what happened.  She started running but with two dogs on her she wound up in the neighbors yard .

The  owner of the dogs  comes out of her yard and instead of her pulling the dogs off, she accused juanita of antagonizing the dogs making them to attack her.

She did nothing but verbally attack my wife and did nothing to prevent the dogs from continuing to attack her. She just keeped yelling at Juanita, while her dogs were tearing her up. She just stood there. The lady’s son ran out, but got bit.  Juanita said the one dog took a bite out of her arm ate it.  Then took another bite while the owner watched it all unfold.

In my opinion, the owner had better be brought up on charges of attempted murder for her just  standing there and not rescuing my wife. Its just like she was leading the mauling herself. Charges better include assault,  assault  with the intent to do great bodily injury. If no charges are filed then there is a breakdown in the system.  Dog owners are responsible for there dogs behavior.

Pitt bulls are to be spayed or neutered in San Bernardino county.

I’m between a rock and a hard place here. I got a hospital bill thats so damn sky high I’ll be in dept for the rest of my life.  I have no benefits at work… none. I’m just lucky to have a job the way the country is.

I set there in that hospital room with her at every night. Now its getting to where I can only go to work 1 to 3 times a week because work is slowing down.  Its been every night the nurse would get me up at 4 am.  I would drive back to Yucca, get an hours sleep, get my lunch and get to work.  I would move Marines all day long and sometimes not getting back late only to find that visiting hours are then over.  I’m with Miller Transfer and Storage.  I’m their class A driver, of unit 108, a tractor trailer.

This is all I can tell you now,  but Juanita is still in the hospital
