La Quinta, CA- On Saturday, June 11, 2011, at approximately 1:40 p.m., officers from the La Quinta Police Department and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of a woman down in the 48-100 block of Via Hermosa, in the city of La Quinta.
Upon the officers arrival, they located a woman, who was later identified as the owner of the residence, seventy-year-old Judy Munson, deceased.
A death investigation was initiated and Munson’s family was notified.
As part of the investigation an autopsy was conducted. The autopsy revealed injuries which were consistent with a homicide.
Investigators from the Indio Sheriff’s Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were notified and assumed the investigation and are working all leads.
On 08/10/2011, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit and La Quinta Police, along with members of the La Quinta Police Special Enforcement Team were actively following up on potential leads discovered during the homicide investigation. Detectives determined that a suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Judy Munson was staying in
an extreme eastern section of San Bernardino County. Around 7:00 PM, detectives successfully located and arrested Wesley Gibbs, a 46-year-old resident of Hesperia, CA.
On 08/11/2011, around 11:20 AM, investigators arrested the victim’s brother, James Oudin, a 73-year-old resident of Lakewood, at a location in Lakewood, CA.
Both suspects were arrested without incident and booked at the Indio Jail for 187 P.C. (Homicide).
On August 12, 2011, investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit arrested 73-year-old Madelyn Oudin of Lakewood, CA, as an accessory to the homicide of Judy Munson. Madelyn Oudin is the wife of James Oudin. She was arrested without incident at an undisclosed location in Lakewood and booked at Indio Jail for 32 PC (accessory to a felony).
