Questions & Answers: 400 US Iron jobs in the East Morongo Basin

There seems to be a real lack of information concerning these potential jobs. Nonetheless, thanks to 29 Chamber of Commerce for the following newsletter.

A few questions: When will the resumes be reviewed? When will the hiring begin? Will 400 employees be hired in short order, or will the hiring be over the next few years? How to apply? Will there be applications? When will the resumes be accepted. What about job descriptions?  Are they available? When will job interviews begin? Are they pay schedules for specific jobs?

Direct your questions to the Chamber’s phone number provided below, or feel free to contact rotating Mayor Jim Harris  –  the intermediary who apparently met with US Iron reps — by email at: info(at)ci.twentynine-palms.ca.us, or by phone at city hall:  1 (760) 367-6799,

*The Chamber Of Commerce Will Be Taking Resumes*

    Take a look at this:

The City of Twentynine Palms funds the Chamber of Commerce; the Chamber is handling the human resources business for US IRON; what we have here is a union or marriage of all three — business, a nonprofit and the City of 29 Palms. Where is this in the City Charter?

  2. After a simple search on Google Maps using the contact address that is supplied by this web site, usmagnetite.com I found that the address took me to a Farmhouse in rural Indiana. The address is 2312 East Division Road, but that address does not exist in the Google maps data base, I can’t locate it.

The Company points to this as being their web http://www.sportship.com/ but I couldn’t get it to load. I’m skeptical about this company hiring 500 folks. I hope they don’t, that’s an area many of us use to for recreational shooting, off-roading, hunting, exploring, prospecting, camping and more. Before you know it we’ll have to go out to Amboy to conduct activates like that.

I also Googled US Iron and came up with nothing.

I think the City really needs to get to the bottom of this. It’s not good to build up the hopes for jobs for residents and families in and around the Basin. Personally, I received two calls from Basin residents, one with four children to feed. He is unable to get any information.

A third individual called me and questioned whether the company rep was a “flamfan man” making false promised in order to spike stocks [or to draw investers]. Personally, I don’t know but I do know the people need quick and definitive answers!

29 Palms Chamber of Commerce, how about more information other that you will collect resumes. Like I wrote, why is the city paying the 29 Chamber of Commerce to act in the stead as human resources department for US Iron?

How about some concrete answers and facts from City Hall — thousand in the valley want to know.

I had a couple of my frens call me all worked up over the “mining jobs” and wanting help with a resume. If this does happen I will be suprised. Our friends at the “Center” (Center for Biological Diversity) have more than likely filed a lawsuit trying to stop this. As a betting man I would say we all had better start learning Mandirin Chinese the way this country is going. The enviro’s are in the drivers seat and could care less about us.

    End of rant.

      Stan (Scott),

Somehow when I hear of a deal that is almost too good to be true… I remember that in most cases it is just that… Too good to be true.

Harris has a bad habit of not doing his homework. I would not be surprised id this is an example of the old story of “The Emperor and His New Clothes.”

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the Mayor proudly parading down the street in his altogethers because of this.

  6. That’s the farmhouse that I found too. The address that Google street view takes me to is, “2487 East Division Road, Tipton, Indiana, United States Address is approximate”. The screen shot doesn’t copy the address to the screen shot photo, but I can see it on the PC view. Google Maps does have a disclaimer saying that the address is “approximate”. I don’t see any mining operations in that area, or any receiving, shipping or processing iron ore plants. That looks like a rural farming area to me.

I like the term “Flim Flam Man”. What sought for by-product that can be expected in an operation such as this? The answer is Gold and other precious minerals. The conveyers are set up with gravity traps that trap the heavier materials, gold, silver, platinum, etc, iron one of the minerals that is associated with gold (gold is nearly $1600.00 a troy ounce). This is nothing new, most all large mining operation use gravity traps.

The even more interesting google search I did was look for the “Stokes MIne” in Gabbs Nevada. I am familiar with Gabbs Nevada, that mine has not been worked in 70+ years.

Plus if you go to the guys web site you see great piles of assay bags. That should be a Red Flag right there. You can go out Baseline past B&B and see those same Assay Bags piled up for testing at our own mining assayers office.

If I get some time I am going to call the Battle Mountain BLM Office and ask about the Stokes Mine. I got a funny feeling…… Something does not ring true on this story.

Why hadn’t these red flags gone off with Jim Harris or the Chamber of Commerce?

I understand Jim may have met with a rep and subsequently announced the jobs — and the Chamber acting as human resources for US Iron is itself is a red flag.

    Jim?

Anyone ever been involved in a investor scam [as an investor]?

  8. this is sad with all the unemployed and pain in our area, our shinny mayor would promote or foster such a sham and fraud.
this is not the first scam out east of town, those of us that has been around for awhile remember the granddaddy of them all. the gold from blow sand sham.
I usually give the desert trail a pass for their dismal job as our local news source but this is reprehensible, I hope Kurt the editor does a little research on this and includes a apology in the next issue for his lack of professionalism.

  10. Just wondering myself…will it have smoke stacks? Will heavy metals become part of our lives? I don’t want to buy a house downwind…that’s all.

Maybe it has something to do with industry’s success at Prop. 26 that now requires a two thirds state majority to levy fines for environmental devastation.

Look no further if its red flags you’re after, US Iron is 80% export as in, to China. Maybe when the Hi-Des has been depopulated China will consider opening their factories here and just bring in half a million workers as an end run around those pesky liberty and enviro freaks that are always complaining about coughing up a little blood. Should be some good commissions for the Chamber members…maybe that’s what we should do, all become employees of the Chamber so we can get in line too?

“…those pesky liberty and enviro freaks”?

Liberty is the absence of Government intrusion, Environmentalism is the epitome of Government intrusion. Kind of like saying Liberty loving National Socialists.

I’m thinking more in the line of an old fashioned mining scam that most of us in the Mojave have some personal knowledge of. More money was mined from the pockets of investors than was ever mined from the veins of all the mines in the Mojave.

  12. I agree. If China wants to put lead into the toys of our children what right does the American government have to say “no.” The Chinese, coal plants, plastic and chemical corporations have our best interests at heart. We need to trust them more than we do and be willing to make sacrifices in order to make their lives easier.
It says so, in the Bible: The Rich Shall Inherit the World. After all, true freedom, true liberty is like love. It has nothing to do with anybody but me.

Tom…. on your planet do you actually think that the United States Government can dictate to the Peoples Republic of China concerning their coal plants, plastic and chemical corporations? You know if the EPA would not have over regulated our manufacturing, plastics and chemical industries we would not be buying those fl*cking lead toys from China. Funny how when it comes to the EPA, Liberals are all into supporting the unconstitutional actions of Richard Nixon.

This little sidebar having nothing to do with the mutually agreed disbelief in the newest Ironage Mine scam.
