Palm Desert, CA– On Friday, July 1, 2011 at about 3:48 p.m., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a robbery that just occurred at a jewelry store located on the 73900 block of El Paseo.

Officers learned that three black males entered the store and had brandished a weapon. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of jewelry from the store and fled the scene in a red-colored vehicle.

A Palm Desert K-9 Officer spotted the suspect vehicle on Cook Street in Palm Desert. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle, but the suspects failed to yield and a pursuit ensued westbound on Interstate-10.

As the pursuit continued westbound Interstate-10 and subsequently westbound the California 60 freeway, additional units assisted with the pursuit. These agencies were the California Highway Patrol, the Gang Task Force and units from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Cabazon Station, Moreno Valley Station and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department air unit.

The pursuit ended in Moreno Valley as the suspects fled from the vehicle on foot. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department air unit was able to guide deputies to the three suspects. One of the suspects fought with arresting officers, but all suspects were taken into custody and no deputies were injured during the incident.

Four suspects have been arrested:

  • Sykes, Zaque Xavier – 27 years old out of Compton
  • Madison, Joshua Marquise – 18 years old out of Compton
  • 16-year-old male juvenile from Compton
  • King, Brandon Christian – 20 years old out of Los Angeles

Most of the stolen property and the weapon were recovered. The weapon was not a firearm, but rather a realistic replica.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is still actively working this case and encourages anyone with information to contact the Pam Desert Police Department at 760-836-3215 or Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP (7867) or by calling Investigator Reeves at 760-836-1757.
