Redux January 2010: Renewable Energy

Friends of Giant Rock like to keep an eye on local renewable projects to make aware residents that may be affected. Primary purpose is to curb even more public land being sucked up by the renewable energy cause and stripping it from public use.

That being said, there is a project in the infant planning stage that would absorb some of our very own coyote dry lake off of Sunfair rd. It may be that this project will take place on private property purchased by axiopower, in which case my only concern would be to notify residents of upcoming public meetings. Renewable energy can be a good thing, especially when utilizing rooftop installations which has FOGR support.

The Senate Bill proposed by Senator Feinstein will take another million acres of public land preventing development and driving the array of wind mills and solar farms to places like Morongo Basin.

I hate to be accused of the “Not in my back Yard” syndrome but that is what I’m saying especially when there are more appropriate isolated locations.

You bet there are more appropriate isolated locations. Like those million acres we cannot afford to let Feinstein close!
