It will be one of the following-named applicants. And, yes, Lori Herbel did in fact submit an application to be an appointed Yucca Valley Councilwoman.
At the Special Town Council Meeting of April 25, 2011, Council directed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Council Member Chad Mayes through an appointment process. Special Town Council Meeting May 10 11, 2011

Ben, who is your choice?
As in keeping with Cactus Thorn’s action on elections, I have no choice for you Larry. You can read the applications and the applicant’s job experience in the attachment.
Read the letters to the editor in the Star today. They took up almost the entire page on the subject.
Why didn’t the local community newspaper list the names of the applicants or report on the Special Meetings called by the Yucca Valley Town Council to review applicants in a public meeting? Any reason come to your minds?
There are two special meetings set for Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th at 6pm at the Community Center.
Larry, what’s the solution here? What would you have done? Frankly, I really do not favor communism. That is, the party picking leaders for its people. How ’bout commie buttons for all four of the Town Council members.
The deadline for filing applications was 5pm on 5 May. The town clerk most likely checked everything on 6 May. The results were probably released late 6 May, about the same time the Star went to press. Ben’s article is dated 7 May, the same date as the paper. The net is faster than the printing press.
Deadline for applications was 5:00 PM May 5th. As they arrived, the registrar was called for confirmation on voter registration. The agenda was posted on the web before we left the office on May 5th, along with redacted copies of the applications (only address information was redacted). If you check the file information it shows 6:24 PM, May 5th date.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.
I stand corrected.
“Why didn’t the local community newspaper list the names of the applicants or report on the Special Meetings called by the Yucca Valley Town Council to review applicants in a public meeting? Any reason come to your minds?”
Uh, innuendo? Am I right? Other than that, no, nothing comes to mind. I’m not much on conspiracy theory! So are you going to tell us what comes to mind for Miss Margo?
Just curious, George.I mean Mike!
This is not their usual reporting style so I wondered what gives?
A new schedule and deadlines for their printing presses?…I dunno.
Spring Break? Presses Down?
Just thinking of the normal business hassels, but now that YOU brought up some sort of conspiracy theory..Hmmm.
The possibilities are always endless but that is not my specialty.
The Truth is usually stranger than Fiction. If you are long in the tooth, like I am, you see everything.
Thank goodness you are still a young man. Good looking son you have too! You should tell everyone he is your brother!
BTW, did you review the applications submitted by the nine citizens?
Well some of these candidates are as impressive as watching sand dry. How could you not be registered to vote? Felon still on parole? A democrat? A declined to state? A middle aged guy from the same church as the rest of the Town Council. If the city had a $5,000,000 reserve why couldn’t we have had a mail in ballot with a few polling dropoffs like other cities do?
