Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.
On 12/29/09, approximately 2:30 am, The La Quinta Police Department received a report regarding an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the 55000 block of Laurel Valley Way in La Quinta.
The investigation determined that Megan Stevens, a 23-year-old female from Coachella, and two other adult women arrived at the victim’s residence and entered through an unlocked front door. Stevens and the victim, an adult male, had a prior dating relationship. Stevens and the other women entered the residence to confront the victim about some domestic issues.
While in the residence, Stevens became upset and began hitting the victim and throwing items in the house. Stevens refused to leave the residence and at one point retrieved a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim in the back.
One of the victim’s friends, present at the time of the assault, called law enforcement. When deputies arrived at the residence, Stevens and the other two women were still present. Based on the investigation, Stevens was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (domestic violence) and later booked at the Indio Jail.
The other two women who accompanied Stevens were released pending further investigation. The victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.
If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact Senior Investigator Joe Quintero at (760) 863-8990. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
