Man vs. Motorhome, Motorhome 1, Man 0

On Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 1:20 p.m., a white male adult was walking on the west roadway edge of Hwy 247 near Marmac in Landers. He was walking south bound when for unknown reasons, he walked in front of a moving motor home which was also traveling south bound on the highway.

The male suffered blunt force trauma to various parts of his body and was taken to High Desert Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

The highway was closed while investigators with the California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Department conducted an investigation. Alcohol or speed do not appear to be a factor and no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Once family members have been notified, his name will be released.
