Open Letter to Captain Miller

Over the years we’ve managed to get credentialed by The City of Twentynine Palms, Assembly members Cook and Conway’s Offices, the Board of Supervisors, State Senators Dutton and Fuller, Both US Senators Feinstein and Boxer,  The Base PAO and about 20 other government agencies, including the main Public Affairs office of the San Bernardino Sheriffs Department and Riverside County Sheriff, but I can not get Cactus Thorns Credentialed with Captian Donny Miller of the Morongo Sheriffs Substation. Lord knows we’ve tried. Just a couple of months ago I was assured by Captain Miller himself I would be put on the email list and credentialed. It did not happen.

We appreciate the way we get the straight skinny from Mark Nuaimi, the Town Manager of Yucca Valley. Most every Town and City Council person posts or has commented on Cactus Thorns. Both the basin Mayors comment here. Water Boards and GPAC members alike have commented, but we still can’t get on the email list for the day to day law enforcement activity and press releases for the Morongo Station.

I know I’ve done my part with the Sheriff when it comes to holding up my end of the party line. Been given an ada boy badge since Sheriff Bland served.  I’ve been recognized with Awards from the Sheriff himself.

Now mind you, in all the time I have written on this blog I have never said a single discouraging word about Captain Miller. I might have said a few things about his friends and cronies or his buddies over at the “in” crowd or fellow alumni on the Council of Twentynine Palms, but I don’t think something like that should stand in the way of disseminating important Law Enforcement information to the People through this web site.

So here you go, Captain Miller, I’d like to apologize if by some remote chance I have ever offended  you or any of your friends. I think it is time we get to the task at hand and put Cactus Thorns on that email list so that our readers can be better informed citizens.

I couldn't get my statement on the desert trail website. I guess I will try to be nicer. Damn shame when you get censored in America.

Cactus Thorns is not a newsroom or a news bureau.
It doesn't help the sites credibility when a known poster of articles on this site make statements like that. We all need to consider the ramifications of our words when post here.
Yes, thank the Lord for Cactus Thorns. IMO Cactus Thorns is a legitimate News Outlet. IMO it doesn't get any better.
Is there a way we could petition on behalf of Cactus Thorns to Captain Miller by an email campaign or another source?

Sites like Cactus Thorns can be an invaluable asset to law enforcement. I know from personal experience.
Just after the Grass Valley fire of 2007 in Lake Arrowhead our local website ROTW posted information about trailers being stolen in an area about a mile from my home. While playing in the snow across from my home with my kids an unfamiliar mini pu came by a few times. I live in the neighborhood that lost 184 homes and we're a close knit low traffic area. I noticed the truck backing up to a boat and trailer in a parking area next to my neighbors burnt home.
I knew they were trying to steal it. Rather than approach them I ran down to my CHP neighbor's home. He quickly got in his Hummer and we headed up to confront them. There was a skanky lady in the drivers seat, and 2 prison trash skinhead types. One at the back of the pickup by the hitch and the other at the back of the boat. The CHP officer was out of uniform. He identified him self as a CHP officer and ordered them to step back and let them know he had a pistol. Though they didn't get arrested on the spot due to the fact they weren't hooked up yet. They were arrested later in connection with the other thefts. If not by the relationship of the local sheriffs dept and the website I probably wouldn't have been on my toes until it was to late. I'm not aware of one person on this site that wouldn't be an asset to law enforcement if they were provided information that would help law enforcement. In fact this site is all about being involved. Left, Right, up, down, Cactus Thorns is probably the best friend of law enforcement in the MB.

        Really Dan, Thank You.
Now I wonder if it would be possible to provide an anonymous, secure we tip page that goes directly to local law enforcement? I can't believe that they don't have anything like that. Just think of what they could do if they could get leads with digital pics etc to help provide them intel. Maybe a link to the anonymous we tip page right here on Cactus Thorns.

Blood Hound is a close cousin ya know! Maybe they have a sketch of some lets say a guy that's wanted on a Megans Law Alert. Someone sends a cell phone pic of a car, person, victim etc. The police can make a quicker decision on whether to act based on up to date info. If the informant wishes they can even include GPS info or not. Or lets say you just witnessed a robbery, you post your pic of the car etc up and law enforcement sends out an apb to on/off duty cops. When people become part of the solution the crooks are badly outnumbered and conviction will go up.

I'll have to go back into the hard copy archives but, I can show you several comments from Mayors Mr. Luckino and Ms. Herbel. Will that work for you ?

Hell I even have council persons of such esteemed importance as yourself posting. Now I don't know if Mr. Huntington is even on line, but he is always welcome.

So what is your point Issac?

I don't have a point to make Dan other then the fact that I thought I missed a post from my mayor. Why are you always so quick to jump to negative conclusions? Relax enjoy life a little, don't take yourself or your blog so seriously.

In Issac's defense, I think he's getting the 2 of us confused.

On subject, I don't see any reason not to add you or really anybody to the e-mail list. I get all the news I need from this blog and The Daily Show. It would be an asset to the community.
Perhaps it is the influence of other local media that keeps you off the list. Threats not to publish if the information is available elsewhere.
        Good representation there.

Isaachagerman: I agree with your pointless post. In fact it sounds like you could take some pills from your own prescription. BTW, h2 and I are going on a Peyote hunt on restricted trails. We need someone sober to drive. Maybe you could be our designated driver? Please meet us at area 51 it's h2s home base. When you pull up to the armed guy at the gate just tell em your there to meet us. I'm just as good lookin as my profile pic, h2s profile pic is an actual photograph and also works as a QR scanner code that proves there is intelligent life on mars. Make sure you show the guy our photos' from this site, It's the only way you can get in. It's also important that you keep this top secret. If anyone finds out about this it could spell the end of civilization as we know it. Humanity is dependent on you.

FWIW, you've got one of the coolest names ever!

It is possible that they reprogrammed me at 52 or the Peyote's residual effects ate still taking effect.
