It Lives

Twentynine Palms, Ca– The anti-outdoor recreation, off road hating, Twentynine Palms General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) will not die.

The hugely unbalanced GPAC, stacked with environmentalists, cronies and friends of Jay Corbin has been given yet another lease on life.

Unable or unwilling to complete the task given to it, the GPAC has taken on a life of its own.

Here is a warning to the City of Twentynine Palms and the Council can take this to the Bank if the Off Road Community is cut out of the Trails and Circulation and Recreation portions of the General Plan as has so far been done, We WILL BE EXERCISING OUR NEW FOUND STATUS AS STAKEHOLDERS IN FEDERAL AND STATE COURTS.

Win, loose, or draw at this stage, we will by the use of injunction and a law suit tie the City of Twentynine Palms up for years. We as a community deserve a fair and balance committee of our peers, not this radical group of land closers.

So…. Instead of killing the beast once and for all, the city has compounded its problem with the potential of inevitable litigation.

I request the 29 Palms City Council remove and replace Pat Flanigan, Paul Smith, Nicole Panter and George P. Mulopulos from the General Plan Advisory Council. These individuals belong to the same environmental group and two them are brother and sister.

These peoples agenda of being stewards of the land conflict with the good of the whole community. The GPAC must not be rife in conflict of interest issues, cronyism or nepotism.

This is the most important time for the city the time when future development for the next 20 years will be decided.

The environmental movement has now become an environmental lobby. It’s a political advocacy movement today, as evidenced by their stacking the commission in 29, as they attempt to do on every agency advisory board concerning land use, project approval, and resource use, among others.

Protection of species is now only a tool to use for them to control political processes, and guilt other people into handing them control.

I was told prior to the election that the City Council had voted to place a “marker” page in the GP to the effect that OHV specifics would await the finalization of the County’s OHV plan for OHV trails and parks. Not sure if this will hold with the new City Council. Steve, am I correct? Larry

      Hi Larry,

You are right on that point. It might be wise for someone to bring that to the attention of one of the councilmembers and ask him to make a future agenda item on this “marker page” that was promised.

The Council could then discuss and vote to either have the “marker” or not. In either event it would then be on the record – I do not think it is as of now but I could be mistaken.

Good point that you bring up larry.

    Larry & Steve,

It’s on my General Plan radar. I have done the research from past City Council & Planning Commission meetings and have the minutes that provide guidance to staff on OHV’s.

As you know,I campaigned on the issue and have written an “As Steve See’s It” which you can archive on CT or Desert29 sites.

Steve and Steve. Can you shoot me the date of the minutes? I’ll contact one of the Councilmen on this. All the best, Larry
