On Friday, January 21, 2011 about 3:08 PM, officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to the 16400 block of Dow Street, Moreno Valley, in reference to a 911 call for a “check the welfare.” A female caller reported that her elderly mother was unintelligible on the telephone and could be suffering from a stroke.
Emergency personnel arrived shortly before officers and found an 85-year-old female who had been mauled by the neighbor’s pit bull. The victim was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center where she underwent surgery for numerous puncture wounds to her body and severe wounds to her arms.
Animal control officers responded for the quarantine of the pit bull. Moreno Valley Police Detectives are continuing with the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator Ed Rose, at the Moreno Valley Police Department. (951) 247-8700.
