On January 10, 2011, investigators from the Temecula Police Department conducted an investigation into allegations that a softball coach in Temecula was engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old female softball player. The subsequent investigation revealed Alex Flores, 39, of Temecula, had sexual contact with the juvenile and had requested a nude photograph of her. As a result, he was placed under arrest by investigators for two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 14, one count of annoying and harassing a child under 14, and one count of possession of child pornography. He was booked into the Southwest Detention Center the morning of January 11, 2011.

Further investigation that evening and the following day revealed three more victims 13 years or younger, not all of whom were softball players, who disclosed they were molested by Flores. After obtaining the additional victim information, investigators booked Flores for two additional charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and one count of annoying and harassing a child under 14. Due to the discovery of additional victims, investigators requested and received a bail enhancement against Flores for one million dollars. Flores was arraigned at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta on January 13, 2011.

Flores was formerly a softball coach for Temecula Valley Girls Softball Association (TVGSA) but was currently coaching a travel softball team.
