The Dutton Report: Dutton Responds to Appointment of Convicted Criminal

Dutton Responds to Appointment of Convicted Criminal
Senate Republican Leader Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) today issued the following statement in response to Governor Brown’s announced appointment of Bill Honig Jr., to the State Board of Education:

“I am very concerned over the governor’s selection of Bill Honig Jr. to the State Board of Education. Certainly we can do better than pick an individual who in 1993 as California’s Superintendent of Schools was convicted on four felony counts of making state contracts in which he had financial interest that resulted in a jail sentence, probation, community service, restitution and a fine.

“I would hope that any future appointment of the governor would have more substantive qualifications than someone who violated the trust of all Californians while serving in public office.”
