INT: Property tax deadlines loom
INLAND EMPIRE – Some property owners will have an extra weekend to pay the first installment of their annual taxes.
While Friday’s deadline still applies in San Bernardino County, Riverside County taxpayers have until Monday. Payments not made by then will be considered delinquent.
Meantime, some homeowners are challenging their assessments. Michele Martinez-Barrera in the Riverside County Assessor’s office urges them to get some facts.
“Bring comparable sales figures of other homes in their area that demonstrate the value of properties lower than the assessed value.”
Many local homes purchased since 1999 are being automatically reviewed for possible property tax reductions. (INT)
