29 Palms: 3 positions open on Planning Commission, Application due Dec 27th

Twentynine Palms, Ca– Applications are now being accepted for up to three vacancies on the City of Twentynine Palms Planning Commission.

Citizens residing within the city limits of Twentynine Palms who are registered voters and are interested in serving on the Planning Commission may submit an application to the City Clerk’s office at City Hall.

Application forms and a statement of duties for the Planning Commission are available at Twentynine Palms City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  Deadline for submission of applications is 6 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2010.

The three open seats on the five-member Planning Commission have been filled by Chairman Daniel Mintz, who was elected to a seat on the Twentynine Palms City Council in November, and longtime commissioners Chuck Caplinger and Rebecca Rinkes, whose current four-year terms expire as of December 2010.

The Planning Commission serves as the planning agency for the City of Twentynine Palms, implements the city’s General Plan, and plays an important role in the growth and development of the city. The commission holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in City Hall.

Following review and evaluation of the applications, the City Council will make appointments to the Planning Commission. For more information, call City Hall at (760)367-6799.
