Yucca Valley, Ca.- Mayor Chad Mayes is looking to replace his appointment of Planning Commissioner Dawe Rowe as she has been recently elected to the Yucca Valley Town Council, by the way, winning more votes than he did in this last election.
Mayes nominated Rowe in January 2009, as his first opportunity to select a Planning Commissioner to fill the vacancy of George Huntington. Huntington left the Yucca Valley Planning Commission, serving over 16 years, after being elected to the Town Council in November 2008.
Applications are now being accepted to fill that position, once again. The Yucca Valley Planning Commission is scheduled to rewrite the Development Code which is in need of being updated. The Town has been operating under the old county code in most cases. On the horizon may be the Plant Ordinance, again, and the Grading Ordinance which should be presented to the commission together as per the recommendation of Hogle-Ireland consultants.
Presently, the Planning Commission consists of: One retired professor emeritus; one school teacher/past chair of the YV Parks and Recreation; one successful dentist “that caters to cowards,” and one Building Contractor/Developer.
I hope that our Mayor will select a Planning Commissioner to compliment the present members to reflect our community.
Here is the information as published in our local newspaper:
